18 Volt Cordless Drill/Generator Hack

I used this 18 volt cordless drill to make a simple hand held generator.

You could probably also use this for water (hydro) or even wind. (small wind turbine)

What makes this setup nice is the fact that you can just loosen the end like where you would put a drill bit into it and simply add a hand crank and tighten the chuck.

You could use a threaded rod from Lowes and bend it to make a nice crank for it.

Inside a Hand Crank Generator

Okay now I just know there are those of you out there that would love to know what is inside of these hand crank generators that we see all the time on ebay and in stores huh?

Well, I bought one of these just to tear it a part so we can all see what is inside of one these.

The only thing I think is strange about this flashlight is the fact that it stores the current from the crank handle into a capacitor instead of into a battery bank.

Here are some screenshots of the movie I took while tearing this apart to see what was inside of it.

A battery bank would make the amount of current you generate with the crank last alot longer then just dumping the current to a small capacitor. Usually when you crank the handle on one of these the energy is stored into a small battery or a small bank of batteries which makes that energy available to you for a longer period of time.

One of the very nice things that this one also offered was an outlet that would allow for you to charge your cell phone by plugging in a wire to the side of the generator and the other end to your cell phone.

Very nice thing to have in your car when you need to make a call and the damn thing is dead cuz you forgot the plug it in to charge it;-)

At any rate at least they work and are not hard on planet earth. Plus its always ready for light when you need it. No batteries!

Just crank it a couple of times and you got light or a cell phone charger or an AM-FM radio.

Earth Battery Exp. Number 2

Okay I tried this again accept this time the points were further apart in length. I got more voltage with them further apart. Not sure why.

Anyway, I really think that this needs more study.

If this is free energy from the earth then scientists need to get off their Butts and find out what this can be used for. You try anything else and they all stated that you cant get something for nothing. Well, if the earth is providing even a small amount of natural current why not find a way to be able to use it.

Home Made Batteries

I found another cool ‘how to’ pdf file on the net that would show how to create your own home made batteries that will last almost forever.

I did finally get around to testing this and I have posted it below. It works!!!!!

Very cool. Try it yourself.

You can run as many of these together as you want to create as much energy as you want…even to charge a 12 volt battery bank. YeeeHaaa!

You could for example run 12, 14, 24 of them and they would keep your 12 volt battery bank fully charged. Now, what could be cooler then that?

The pic on the left shows the small LED lit up very bright. Very cool. The pic on the right shows a piece of copper pipe that I bought and cut into sections to use for these cool projects. I also used flat aluminum stock bar and cut it to the lengths I needed. For the aluminum you could also use like the leg of an old lawn chair…You know one with the web in it that is trashed that you have not thrown out yet;-p

The pic on the left shows the volt meter and 3.364 (under load from the LED) Very useable energy!

The pic on the right shows a plasic container I used. I put bleach and water into it, cut 1 piece of copper tube 6″ long. The same with the aluminum stock. I put them into the bleach and water (making sure they did not touch!) and then connected them together to double my volts output.
